“The title ’Mirrowed windows’ refers to the opacity of power, an issue that is touched upon by both installations in the showroom. The exhibition explores not only the the contructed environment of the city and its noble architecture but also its constant medial production and fictionalisation of the city. Bad Ems becomes a stage set that can produce any arbitrary story as if the city’s life would depend on it. This local fanatasy that both artists work with is part of a worldwide trend regarding the identity and marketing strategies of cities. On one hand the objective is to give ’the tourist’ a sense of authenticity and on the other hand to convey to the ’the local’ that they are part of an authentic narrative, whilst at the same time sealing oneself off from ’the stranger’ from outside....“
